DESCRIPTION:Join the Surrey Board of Trade as we host Rob Fleming\, BC Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Dan Coulter\, BC Minister of State for Infrastructure and Transit. They will discuss BC's transportation and infrastructure plan\, specifically as it relates to Surrey and the region\, and how each plays a role in BC's economic recovery. The event will also feature the release of the 2024 Surrey Roads Survey results.\n\nAbout the Speakers:\n\n\n\nHon. Rob Fleming\n\n\n\nRob Fleming was first elected to represent the riding of Victoria-Hillside in 2005. He previously served as the Minister of Education from July 2017 to October 2020. Before his election to the Legislature\, Rob served two terms as a Victoria city councillor. He chaired the city's finance committee and represented Victoria at the Capital Regional District\, the Victoria Regional Transit Commission\, the Capital Region Housing Corporation and Tourism Victoria.\n\n\n\nAs a city councillor\, Rob was a leading advocate for public transit and affordable housing. He was instrumental in the creation of the Capital Region's Affordable Housing Trust and the region's transportation plan.\n\nRob has a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Victoria. He worked in research and communications and was a research and policy analyst for the Ministry of Advanced Education. He was involved in many community organizations and travelled to El Salvador to monitor elections there.\n\n\n\nHon. Dan Coulter\n\n\nDan Coulter was elected as the MLA for Chilliwack in 2020 and served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Accessibility.\n\n\n\nWhile chair of the Chilliwack Board of Education from 2013-20\, he was a strong advocate for improvements to the public education system. As former president of CUPE 3787 and a millwright who was severely injured in a workplace accident in 1999\, Dan believes people have the right to safe working conditions.\n\n\n\nDan is passionate about the rehabilitation of youth in the criminal justice system and was a director for the Chilliwack Restorative Justice Society.\n\n\n\nDan lives in Chilliwack with his partner along with their dogs Spencer and Annabella.
