DESCRIPTION:Canada's Minister of Families\, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen joins the Surrey Board of Trade on May 12\, at 2:00 p.m. Minister Hussen will discuss Budget 2021\, with a focus on early learning and childcare\, social innovation and social finance\, housing and CMHC\, and support for Black Canadians. \n\n\n\nThis session is your opportunity to ask the Minister your questions.\n\n\n\nKeynote Speaker\n\nAhmed Hussen is a Canadian lawyer and politician who presently serves as Minister of Families\, Children and Social Development. He is also the Minister responsible for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC). Prior to his appointment\, he served as the Federal Minister of Immigration\, Citizenship and Refugees in 2017.\n\nHe has served as the member of Parliament (MP) for the Toronto area the riding of York South Weston since the 2015 federal election. He is the first Somali-Canadian to be elected to the House of Commons and the first to hold a federal Cabinet position.\n\nHussen attended York University\, where he earned a BA in History in 2002. Having received a law degree from the University of Ottawa\, and passed the bar exam in September 2012\, he specialized in the practice of immigration and criminal law.
